Making Kladdkaka!

In this video I am making a swedish dessert called Kladdkaka! I spend a lot of time in Sweden and I wanted to learn how to make the treats that my friends enjoy -- so this has been on my 'to bake' list for a long time!

Unlike other recipes from Sweden, I didn’t get them translated from the family cookbook… instead, I found this one on Tasty! I wanted to try making it from a recipe before I adapted my own changes to it. So here we are, attempting the recipe provided by the wonderful people over there. For a link to that, click HERE.

Now, the Kladdkaka that I've had in Sweden is usually a bit less sunken in the middle than this one. But maybe my pan was a little too big, or maybe it needed a bit longer in the oven. Either way it tasted AMAZING. In the ‘taste testing’ phase you end up eating more than you ought to and before you know it, the whole thing is gone.

So if you’re in Sweden, where might you find yourself a piece of Kladdkaka? Well, in Swedish culture they often fika — and all you have to do is find a fika joint! Usually any coffee shop or cafe of Swedish origin will have something like Kladdkaka. You can ask people their favourite spots to fika and you can probably find a range of good suggestions that way! Some more well known spots to fika in the city of Stockholm include Vete-katten, Chokladkoppen, or Pascals. Pascal’s doesn’t often do cakes and things, they focus more on sandwiches — so you probably won’t find Kladdkaka there.

If that all fails, just hop on over to your local ICA or COOP and find yourself some kladdkaka in the baked goods section.

I hope if you have the opportunity you will give this a go, as it is super duper tasty. Ooey and gooey and full of chocolatey goodness. I think it’s better than a brownie, but that’s just my opinion (and I know some people are basically religious about their brownies!). Give it a go, and see what YOU think :)

Till next time!

Nägemist,

Andrea
